On the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Her Honour
Let us hail the Holy City,
Jerusalem most high,
Who was born a lowly maiden
With the most purest aye.
Let us hail the mystical moon,
The lesser light divine,
Who was born into the worlds night,
With face from Sun to shine.
Let us hail created wisdom,
Spouse of Spirit above,
Who was destined to bear the Truth
With womb of mother's love.
All praise be to the Trinity;
To He we call Father,
And to He the Word Incarnate,
With Spirit our Mother.*
Amen.
8th September, Heel of Christ.
*Note: God is without gender, for 'He' is beyond it, yet to describe the Holy Spirit as Mother is legitimate and Augustine, among many others, does this himself.
